My birth and my first week

Mom is a little late in starting my blog but she's had her hands full since she broke her ankle 12 days after I was born! I told her she better start writing down some of these memories or else it will be really hard to keep track of everything.

I was born on Monday, April 12th at 11:02pm via an unscheduled cesarean. My mom tried really really hard and after 26 hours of intense labor and pushing for over 2 hours I wasn't even close to making an appearance. Mom wanted me out because everyone was pretty worried about me. Well, I came out healthy and beautiful, even though my cone-head was in the wrong spot, and everyone's concerns were immediately washed away.

Dad went with me to the nursery where I was weighed and measured. I came in at 7lb 7oz and 20.5 inches long! Then Dad carefully gave me my first bath but I wasn't too sure I liked it. He just kept smiling at me and telling me it was OK.

Luckily, dad was able to take me to mom in the recovery room only 30 minutes after I was born and I started nursing immediately. Boy was I hungry! Then we all went to our room and proud mom and dad took the below photo of me when I was only 2 hours old.

From that point on I was so happy to spend all of my time with my mom and dad in their hospital room and never be apart from them. My mom even let me sleep on her chest every night. We were all in love and so very happy! We spent the first 4 nights in the hospital so mom could heal up. The next few photos are from my first 1 day of life.

I didn't like being bundled up for the ride home at all but I trusted that mom and dad were going to take really good care of me.

Our first night at home mom and dad celebrated with an ice cream cake for my birthday! We went to bed soon after the cake because Grandma and Grandpa Neal were coming to meet me the next day and we needed rest!
